Have just recently rediscovered my old UFO reports book. I am a hoary old sceptic these days, so I tend to think this sort of thing is a load of nonsense.
I do however, believe them to be an important cultural phenomenon, reflecting the deep seated psychological concerns of the time.
The book is full of simple, but atmospheric pastel illustrations of space craft and aliens. This chap is my favourite. I’m note sure what he represents on a psychosocial level, but this big eared extraterrestrial pipe smoker has a sort of retro attraction about him.
He’s no steampunk, really, but I don’t think he’s anything like as scary as his appearance in 1978 is reported.
